Garden
Vision
Starting with a
featureless landscape,
David resurfaced
concrete, planted
extensively, and
updated the home’s
facade with new paint
and wood trim.
PLANTINGS
Informal annuals,
shrubs, groundcovers,
and clinging vines
soften the symmetry
of the yard and house.
Trees and shrubs are
placed so they don’t
obstruct the sight
lines from the
windows.
LAYOUT
The front walk follows
a straight line to the
home’s entry, creating
visual flow between
house and garden.
This line is the
backbone of the
garden layout, with
paths and flowerbeds
connected to it in
symmetrical fashion.
MAINTENANCE
In stages, David
removed all of the
lawn and replaced it
with ornamental
plantings. He focused
on adpated, low-care
plants that are less
thirsty and laborious
than lawns.
